An Introduction to Transition Lymington:

Transition Lymington Transition Lymington is working towards a more sustainable SO41 area by moving to a lower carbon society with greater emphasis on local provision of food, energy, goods and services.

Transition Lymington is part of the wider reaching New Forest Transition movement.Transition is a group which believes that if we respond to these problems as a community, we can create very positive alternatives.

Taking action locally in sustainable ways will enable us to produce more of the energy, food and other goods we consume thus making us and our community more self-reliant and resilient to these changes. At the same time, we would be reducing our environmental impact and in the longer term, reducing cost.

In effect, a Transition from our current way of life to a better one.

Transition Lymington Away from our high dependence on fossil fuels for transportation, energy, food production and consumables towards a strong, local, low carbon economy, local food production and local energy production. To be in a place where our buildings, vehicles and appliances are very energy efficient, where we walk or cycle locally, where our power is made from renewable sources (rather than dwindling, overseas ones) and where we are self sufficient for the greatest possible number of our needs - food, energy, transportation, health and housing.

Transition Lymington aims to raise further awareness of these issues and build on the momentum of New Forest Transition by specifically concentrating on projects in the SO41 postcode areas.
