A new generation of community activity, social business and transparency
The Community Interest Company brings accountability and creativity in engaging people who are keen to help Lymington and matching them with areas of genuine concern and needs such as our targeted local issues and community projects.
This is done in a manner that improves, develops and supports the many diverse charities, voluntary and community organisations within the Lymington area and aids the regeneration of social, educational and environmental sustainability.
Lymington Community Foundation is fundamentally different from a normal commercial company. For both the initial Foundation team and all the benefactors past, present and in the future there has been an overwhelming need to ensure that assets, donations and legacies to the community are truly ring fenced and held “by the community for the community” with as wide a consensus and advisory membership base as possible.

A Community Foundation for our whole town
There are over 70 Community Foundations in the UK through which central Government has delivered over £100 million to date (find out more at the Community Foundation Network). Community Foundations are charities located across the UK dedicated to strengthening local communities, creating opportunities and tackling issues of disadvantage and exclusion. Community Foundations target grants that make a genuine difference to the lives of local people.
They manage funds - donated by individuals and organisations, building endowment and acting as the vital link between donors and local issues, connecting people with causes, and enabling clients to achieve far more than they could ever by themselves. Community Foundations provide professional and personalised philanthropic advice and grant portfolio development for each client.
